Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team received a callout to an individual who had broken their ankle in the vicinity of Pillar. Following some investigation, it became apparent that the casualty was in fact on the Cockermouth side of the boundary and the call was transferred to CMRT.The Team was called out and made its way down Ennerdale valley to Black Sail. Whilst en route, an HM Coastguard Helicopter was tasked to the job and arrived on scene as the first Team vehicle pulled up. Rescue 912 (from Humberside), lowered their paramedic to the casualty then uplifted a couple of Team members to the scene before heading to Kirkbride airfield to refuel. Meanwhile, the rest of the Team made their way to the casualty on foot. The injury was splinted and the casualty given pain relief before Rescue 912 returned and winched them aboard for onward travel to the Cumberland Infirmary.

CMRT was called out on Wednesday evening by an appropriately equipped walker who had become benighted and disorientated by on the summit
of Red Pike. Utilising PhoneFind the individual was located on the Ennerdale facing slopes of Red Pike, a few 100m off the summit.
A limited callout was initiated, and three Team members headed down the Buttermere Valley, where they were joined by three more of the
Team who had been climbing near Honister. The Team quickly made their way to Red Pike summit, located the individual and escorted
them safely back down to Buttermere village.

A walker reported their partner as having got into difficulty and in fear of falling. Photos sent by the stuck walker indicated that they were in the ghyll coming out of Black Beck Tarn, Haystacks. Team members located the walker and led them back up to the path by Black Beck Tarn and back off the fell.

A member of the public staying in Low Lorton, reported they had seen a green flare go up between Whiteside and Gasgale Gill. A couple of Team members drove out to take a look and after further enquiries, the Team Leader concluded no further action was needed.

North West Ambulance Service asked CMRT for assistance extracting a wheelchair user from 8ft down in a ditch near Longlands Lake, Cleator. With no information about the nature of any injuries sustained, the Team proceeded quickly to the scene. On arrival, NWAS paramedics had been able to help the wheelchair user from the ditch and had started treatment. The Team were no longer required and returned to base.

Cockermouth Mountain Rescue was called to assist an individual who had become unwell near the summit of Haystacks and was unable to continue their walk. The Team was despatched and drove up via Honister to Dubs Hut before ascending to Haystacks on foot. On arrival CMRT assessed the casualty and due to the nature of the illness requested the assistance of Helimed 75 to extract the individual. The casualty was packaged and airlifted by Helimed to Furness General Hospital for further treatment.

Cockermouth MRT was called out on Saturday afternoon to a walker suffering severe chest pains whilst descending Grisedale Pike. A vehicle left the base immediately, due to low numbers additional support was requested from Keswick and RAF Leeming MRT. Once on scene it became clear that the individual was experiencing a heart attack, pain relief was administered but rapid extraction was the priority. Both Helimed 58 of the Great North Air Ambulance and Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 199 attempted to attend but weather conditions prevented either landing. The casualty was packaged in a stretcher and transported off the mountain to rendezvous with a waiting NWAS Ambulance near Revelin Moss.

The North West Ambulance Service asked CMRT to assist with a walker who had reported themselves to have injured their ankle. However, they were unable to identify their location, stating only that they were within 90 minutes walk of Buttermere. The Team Leader made further enquiries and established that they had likely walked in the direction of Scarth Gap, so called out the Team to begin what would likely be a protracted search of the Buttermere valley surroundings at night. Luckily, within 15 minutes of the Team assembling, a further call was received to confirm that the casualty has been helped by a member of the public and returned to their vehicle.
