With no luck on the previous day's callout, the search was reconvened on the 10th; this time Cockermouth focused on the technical ground around Great Gable. The Team was completing this tasking when tragically the casualty was found deceased by another team near Skew Gill. Cockermouth then diverted to support the recovery and extraction.

As the Team were completing a day of training in Piers Gill, Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team received a callout to an arm injury in the Napes area of Great Gable. As CMRT were already in the area, Wasdale contacted the Team and asked if Cockermouth could assist.
Simultaneously HM Coastguard Rescue 199 was tasked to the incident, the first Cockermouth Team members were just arriving on scene as the helicopter winchman was lowered to the casualty, who was promptly evacuated for further treatment at hospital.

Almost immediately after assist Wasdale with callout 32 on Great Gable, reports came in of another incident where an individual had suffered a leg injury close to Beck Head Tarn and was unable to walk. Cockermouth and Wasdale Teams liaised and CMRT headed back up the fell whilst Wasdale dispatched two vehicles from their base. Once again HM Coastguard Rescue 199 was tasked to the incident due to the severity of the evacuation. The helicopter was on scene within two hours and lifted the casualty for further treatment at the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.

The Team received a call from a paraglider who had landed badly, shortly after lifting from Burnbank Fell, sustaining multiple arm injuries. Short on volunteers and uncertain of helicopter assistance, the Team asked Keswick MRT for assistance. As the rescue progressed, North West Air Ambulance confirmed they were able to attend and Keswick MRT were ultimately stood down. The casualty was given pain relief and their arm splinted, before being lifted to hospital. Many thanks to the North West Air Ambulance charity and Keswick MRT for their prompt response.

Shortly after Callout 35, one of the same group of paragliders suffered an impact on the front of Carling Knott, suffering multiple injuries to the face, arm, pelvis and leg. Due to the severe nature of the injuries, North West Air Ambulance were quickly mustered, arriving shortly after CMRT had assessed the casualty and begun to treat their injuries. Strong pain relief was administered, the casualty packaged onto a stretcher and transferred to the helicopter - with some difficult through the deep, rock-strewn heather below Carling Knott. Many thanks again to the North West Air Ambulance for theire timely assistance.

CMRT were called to search for a paraglider pilot who had launched from above Hassness Gill, Buttermere, but had not returned to the landing site. Despite the early callout, the Team (plus 7 Wasdale MRT members) was already in the Ennerdale valley, training on Pillar Rock.
Due to the longer drive round to Buttermere, Keswick MRT were asked to respond too and both teams converged on a reported sighting in the complex, steep ground of Goat Gills.
A rope rescue system was set up to lower rescuers to the location, but tragically the paraglider was declared deceased at the scene. Many thanks to Keswick MRT and Wasdale MRT for their assistance under difficult circumstances.

Walkers reported themselves lost on the hills somewhere overlooking Crummock Water, but decided to stay put and wait until morning light to continue.

The Team received a call from a couple of runners, who had come across a walker whilst running round Crummock Water. The walker had slipped on wet rock, fallen and sustained a knock to the head, resulting in bruising and some initial confusion. After several attempts to get up and continue, the walker had waited in the rain for half an hour until the runners came past, and had become wet and cold. The casualty was assessed, warmed and carried to High Park, from where the North West Ambulance Service transported them to West Cumberland Hospital. Many thanks to the runners for their quick call for help and assistance with the casualty.

The Team received two simultaneous call-outs at approximately 2pm on the 8th July. Following some investigations by the Team Leadership, it became clear that both calls were actually referring to the same incident; a fallen walker on the Buttermere lakeshore path.
The despatched two vehicles and was on scene within the hour. An initial survey was carried out and it became clear that the casualty had an upper arm injury and was in significant pain. The Team provided analgesia before packaging and evacuating the individual to Gatesgarth, where the North West Ambulance Service were waiting to provide further treatment and transport to the West Cumberland Hospital.
The Team wishes the casualty a speedy recovery.
